Agentur für kommunalen Klimaschutz

Die Agentur für kommunalen Klimaschutz am Deutschen Institut für Urbanistik (Difu) ist Ansprechpartnerin in allen Fragen des kommunalen Klimaschutzes. Als bundesweite Lotsenstelle bündelt die Agentur im Auftrag des Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz (BMWK) Informations-, Beratungs- und Vernetzungsangebote für Kommunen und kommunale Akteur*innen. Sie berät umfassend zu Fördermöglichkeiten im kommunalen Klimaschutz. Ziel der Agentur ist es, die Umsetzung von Klimaschutzmaßnahmen auf kommunaler Ebene zu unterstützen und sie weiter zu beschleunigen. Kooperationspartner sind der Deutsche Städtetag, der Deutsche Landkreistag sowie der Deutsche Städte- und Gemeindebund.

Die Nationale Klimaschutzinitiative (NKI)
Bis 2045 soll Deutschland treibhausgasneutral werden. Damit das gelingt, fördert und initiiert der Bund über die Nationale Klimaschutzinitiative (NKI) seit 2008 Klimaschutzprojekte in ganz Deutschland, die einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Erreichung dieses Ziels leisten.

Das wichtigste Breitenförderprogramm im Rahmen der NKI ist die Kommunalrichtlinie. Mit ihrer Hilfe können Kommunen und andere Akteure wie kommunale Unternehmen, Vereine oder Bildungsträger Klimaschutzmaßnahmen umsetzen und ihre Treibhausgasemissionen dauerhaft senken. Agency for Local Climate Action
The Agency for Local Climate Action, located at the German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu), is Germany’s primary contact for all questions relating to local climate action. Working on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the agency supports local governments and stakeholders by advising them on funding opportunities as well as providing helpful tools, examples of best practice and networking opportunities. The aim is to support the implementation of climate protection measures on a local scale and advance these efforts.

The National Climate Initiative
Germany is to be largely greenhouse gas neutral by 2045. In order to achieve this goal, the BMWK supports numerous projects and programmes via its National Climate Initiative (NCI). The Initiative, which was launched in 2008, comprises programmes such as the Funding Scheme for Local Governments (Kommunalrichtlinie). It is specifically tailored to meet the needs and demands of cities, municipalities and rural districts as well as those of other local stakeholders such as municipal companies, sports clubs and educational institutions. It provides support to those who are engaging in climate action on a local level and who aim to significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
